You think you know ambient effects? Well, if you haven't tried the Wampler Ethereal, you still have much to learn. The Ethereal combines delay and reverb into a compact user-friendly pedal. You can use either effect individually or combine them into blankets of otherworldly textures. Benefit from up to one second of delay, with a second delay line layered on top in any of four different patterns (including the popular quarter note + dotted eighth mix). You can deactivate the Ethereal without cutting off your effects, thanks to the Trails button. High-grade components and relay true bypass switching preserve your tone, while top-mounted jacks conserve pedalboard space. The Ethereal just might be the ultimate ambient effects pedal.
The Wampler Ethereal — a year in the making
We first saw the Ethereal prototype at NAMM 2016, and we were impressed. Its lush ambient effects completely blew us away. Most pedal builders would have been satisfied with that, but not Brian Wampler. He continued to refine the Ethereal's design until it was perfect. He streamlined the layout by removing the Delay Mode knob and adding a soft switch. He added a Trails button that allows your effects to ring out after you switch off the pedal. He also changed the housing's color from seafoam green to an eye-catching turquoise. Take it from the pedal geeks here at Sweetwater — it was worth the wait!
