    Description

RARE Four Seasons NYC Restaurant Ashtrays/Butter Dishes - Complete Set.
I am the original owner, aquired from the restaurant during the 1980’s.
Rare and complete set of ashtrays / Butter dish from the one and only — and now gone forever — Four Seasons restaurant inside the Seagram Building in New York.
These are from the restaurant that changed restaurants, opened in 1959 and a phenomenon until its closing in 2016, thanks to a magic combination of ingredients: a masterpiece building designed by Mies van der Rohe; a sophisticated interior by Philip Johnson; a menu that introduced seasonally changing food to America; and a clientele that included virtually every mover and shaker in the free world.
The iconic graphic trees on these ashtrays are by Emil Antonucci, who designed the restaurant's famous logo to wittily depict all four seasons via modernist trees in varying states of life. Each ashtray is 4 inches in diameter. The glaze is shiny on all of them. One has a different bottom stamp than the others it says JPI
in the frenzied 2016 auction of the restaurant's contents — sold for ,500, ,000, ,375, ,500 and ,875. There were only five sets at that sale with all four trees.
