DESCRIPTION:
► Lovely pair of 'bas relief' 3-D Wall Hanging Sculptures - a matched pair.
► Subject: Geisha rising from Lotus Flowers = symbolize beauty and purity of mind, body, and spirit (from the Buddhist paradigm).
► No artist or maker's mark.
► Elements within the art are molded plastic - made to simulate hand carved wood (which was the traditional method). These are likely machine made & hand assembled.
► Compound frames: wood painted black on the outside of the glass - this has a narrow gold band next to the glass. Mustard Gold Color Velvet Cloth element INSIDE the glass + a second beaded gold band frame the actual art. Access to the interior is easily obtained (for glass cleaning, for example) by removal of 4 screw clamps on the reverse (see photo).
► Paper back sealing has broken down due to age.
► 25" tall ... 14.5" wide (overall) ... 1.75" Thick.  Actual art: 18" x 8.5"
► There was no 'hanging hardware' on these works of art - I've ADDED simple screw eyes and braided steel wire to them = they are now "R
eady to hang".
► Provenance is not known beyond my source: a retirement estate on Cape Ann, Massachusetts. This couple were world travelers and their estate is filled with Asian art of many styles (some of which we've offered here on EBay - if still available)

Total Weight just short of 10 pounds -- will ship with heavy cardboard protection, so
shipping weight will be around 14 pounds.  Consider in person pickup.

Interiors of these wall hangings are totally intact - paint and gilding all clean - no stains - frames are strong - Frame is a perfect complement to the art = beautiful with no issues - Ready to hang. The pair are matched excellently - 'mirrored' to a great degree as is the tradition here.
GIFT QUALITY.
ISSUES: purely incidental: the back paper seal has failed. Gold paint is not applied with total precision at the factory - not noticed unless studied closely - irrelevant to enjoyment of these works.
