    Description

Watercolor Painting created by Jacoba Remick of York, ME when on a trip to Japan.  She noticed this person raking leaves at the Meiji Jingu shrine.
    Painting is actually 5 3/8 " X 5 3/8" with color coordinated matting and gold painted 11 1/2" X 11 1/2" frame.
Meiji Jingu is one of the Shito shrines in Japan, with vast land of forest located in the middle of the megacity, Tokyo.
Once you step into this precinct, you will forget that you are in the hustle bustle city and will find Japanese traditional scene amidst greenery nature.
It was established in 1920, to commemorate the virtue of Emperor Meiji and Emperess Shoken who took the initiative to make a foundation to modernized Japan.
    Meiji Jingu is open everyday.
This was a gift received in 1998 by the painter and sad to let it go.
