    Description

    From my personal collection. Because my husband's favorite Italian restaurant was Mario's, I bought him this plate for fun. Of course it didn't come from HIS Mario's but the thought was there.
    Mario's Ristorante opened in 1965 and soon became the go-to spot for the elite of Nashville. Mario Ferrari came to the US from Trieste, Italy and worked his way up in the restaurant business. He passed away in 2012. The restaurant was open more than 40 years before it was destroyed by fire in 2006 and never reopened.
    Wide maroon band encircles the verge, Mario's in black script with an image of a chef in the well. Scalloped edges on this 10 1/2 inch plate made by Syracuse China in 1981. No chips or cracks. Moderate to heavy utensil use.
